Smallcombe Churchyard

I saw this lovely little steeple as I was coming down the Bath skyline trail and had to see it. A short detour took me there easily. Sadly, the little chapel was chained shut so no peeking inside.

The graveyard around it was very atmospheric- reminding me of some that we saw in Kyoto Japan. Many of the markers have been consumed by the forest.

There were two chapels on the site, you’d not have thought that Smallcombe would need so many, but it seems a number of Baths notables have been buried there. Among them a few Pickwicks and Millsom’s. It certainly is a lovely spot.
