More Selbu Mitts

I made a pair for Chris after making myself a pair. I was hopeful that I’d have all the kinks worked out. I think I’ll have to make a third pair before I’m proficient.

Red Poll

I found this little guy in the door mat when I went home to check on Isla. He probably ran into the window. I gave him my gloves and some wool fluff. I hope he is ok. We have attached a big gang of red polls in the last couple days.

Here’s their prints.

Mount Fuji Fabric Shower Curtain

I’m trying very hard to use things that I buy. When we were in Japan I bought some lovely fabric panels that I didn’t realize were so large. They’ve both seen utilized. This one became a new shower curtain. And yes, I did iron it, the wrinkles in the photo are really not that noticeable. The boards fabric was in my stash and compliments the panel nicely I think. I do love indigo.

Rendezvous Queens Tea

It seems like a bit of a mad hatters event with lots of fun work going into peoples hats.

Bohemian Waxwing

Our yard is currently home to a very lonely, cold, starving bohemian waxwing.  Somehow he seems to have missed the flocks that would have left Whitehorse sometime in December. He is desperately scouring our trees and bushes for anything that was left by his former flock mates.  The sad part is there is no way we can feed him... because I think they only eat fruit.  We just hope the little fella can stay alive and make it through the rest of winter.

We've uncovered some bushes that still have berries... hopefully that'll be enough.

Skied to Work

We’ve had mythic amounts of snow over the last 36 hours. After watching some one ski past me yesterday I decided to ski myself. It was a blast! It made me wish we Canadians were a skiing nation like Norway. Sadly we aren’t so shortly the trail will be ploughed and covers with grit to deter skiers - but encouraging walkers and cyclists. One of my colleagues happened to be arriving at the same time and took a couple photos for posterity.

Sourdough Rendezvous Fest Feast

A lovely evening out with friends. We had too much fun to take many photos! The place setting included lovely tea cups on loan from the Golden Age Society. I succumbed to a new tea cup created for this years Quest for the Crown competition.

Costumes and all!

I think Chris looks great in a top hat.
