Out of Order Post: OMG Snow

This post originally from February 21.

Still snowing this morning. Then it cleared up and Scapa and I went for a ski.

These are the trails behind our house that we usually walk but today it tried it on the skinny skis.

Scapa loves to walk on our skinny skis when we are skiing. We will be working on that.

Out of Order Post: Haines Junction Again

Spontaneously on this rendezvous weekend we decided to head out to Haines Junction again with our friends who did all the planning. This time we’re staying at a pair of cute little cabins called carnivore cabins. Right in the heart of downtown Haines Junction. We arrived in time to head out for another glorious ski. Conditions were perfect. We made a donation to the St Elias Ski Club to help support all their hard work.

Photo bomb!

Here comes Pinta!

Husky lift!

Chris was having fun. There’s a lot of pics of him smiling. Rod as king of the Mountain- Pinta was playing hard to get!

Out of Order Post: Spring is Officially Here

Reviewing some posts a bunch didn’t make it thanks to our monopoly service provider Northwestel.

We’re having our first fire on the front deck! Sweet moment to feel the turn of the season.

Out of Order Post: It Snowed All Night

I was reviewing some posts and realized a bunch didn’t post. Thanks to the monopoly held by Northwestel we have glacially slow upload speed.

Yes it did snow all night. And it continues to snow. Will spring ever come?

Well the world ever be green again? The little red polls are digging into last nights snow for food.

Scapa The Destroyer

Our lovely puppy seems to revel in tearing the guts out of her toys. And/or eating any loose parts off them.

This toy has already been fixed with hockey tape! And she’s managed to tear the guts out of its face

I Made a Dog Bed!

I have been working on using things in my stash. I revisited my stash yesterday and found some great stuff, so this morning I embarked on a ‘using it up’ project with some wool Stroud and wool fleece. If I had to buy this it would be a crazy expensive project. Since it was already in my collection, it was essentially free!

The fabrics have been a few other things, including the back of a lovely fur pillow.

It is definitely cushier than the floor.

Scapa isn’t sure about it yet. I hope she comes to love it!

After a hard walk today she has crashed out in her new bed. How happy am I!?

Cinnamon sugar toast

Why did it ever fall out of style? It is simply delicious.

Serious Gardening

I got some serious gardening done! It’s part of a progression from winter hibernation to summer production. My herb garden:

I dug out the whole end of this garden as part of the renovation to deal with encroaching grass. Then Chris and I transplanted some plants from other gardens including two hascaps, a black currant and some pink yarrow. Then I popped in some annuals that I started or bought.

The puppy loves it too much so we will be making a temporary willow fence to keep her out. This haskap is doing well and blooming already.

The blooms are the same colour as the leaves.

And here’s what’s left to plant some pansies and some alyssum. It was a very tiring day. That is the dog sleeping on my gardeners journal.

May Long Weekend Self Isolation

Scapa especially had a great May Long Weekend. We did 1-2hr walks 4 days in a row, hung out in the yard and did a little gardening and we even camped out in the back shack for a night...
