Cabbage Rolls

My dear friend gifted me with a glorious savoy cabbage and purple cabbage from her garden this week. I felt the only proper justice to be done would be to make cabbage rolls one of Christopher‘s favourite meals.

Delicious!

Chris' Pics 'The Before House In Annapolis Royal

These pics below are from our first blush with our new house. Our friend Theresa did amazing things for us with her sister getting the house clean and Theresa bringing in and placing all of our new to us antique furniture. What an amazing arrival...

Annapolis Royal Fort Anne

The Town of Annapolis Royal is there because of the war between England and France. Fort Anne was a principle defensive fortification in Nova Scotia for a long time.

It’s right on the Annapolis Basin - just off the Bay of Fundy.

This is a little piece of the town’s commercial area.

The commercial area is right down by the water with the same outlook as the Fort.

And we walked through the grounds after dinner to our house only a block away!

You can’t quite see our house  through the trees.

Our New Annapolis Royal Nova Scotia House

We just returned from a week in Nova Scotia seeing our new to us 1885 home. Sarah and I were busy every day from Morning to after 10pm each night. The next few posts from each of us will catch us up on some of our adventures over the last week. Below are some pics of our travel from Yukon to Annapolis Royal Nova Scotia.

Chris in the Fall Garden

I really enjoyed our long fall this year. Usually by now we would’ve had more than one killing frost. The long cool days with cool nights without frost have allowed our garden to continue on and show us some autumnal colour.

Are black currant we’re finally bounteous this year after many years of poor production.

Autumn walks

The scenery around our house is just lovely. The skies are almost unbelievable.

I managed a slightly faster pace. I am thriving in the cooler weather of fall. I’m hopeful that by the time we get to Italy temperatures there will be cool and enjoyable for walking.

Apple Pickers

Our crabapple trees have had an amazingly productive year this year.  A riend came over this evening and we chatted and picked two of them clean and ran out of light to finish the third . we estimate that we picked probably twenty pounds so far. Yep those are laundry baskets full crabapples.

The before picture.

Mushroom exploring

After the class I wanted to cement my new knowledge so when I went out for a walk with Scapa I collected some specimens of what I thought were edible mushrooms.

I think this is a prince. And maybe I’ll add the Latin layer!

And photos of inedible ones.

And a nice shot of the dog. It was getting dark by the time we headed home.
