Turkey Thankfullness

We often host a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner around the same time as American Thanksgiving. It is honestly just another excuse for Christopher to buy and eat more Turkey. We love sharing these wonderful meal with friends... and very much appreciate the memories. In the past we've had up to 14 guests... not possible this year for Covid reasons. Even with reduced numbers, Covid has begun recently to tick up for the first time in Yukon. Many of us are just holding our breath at this time waiting for the hundreds of test results to come in next week and find out if there has been significant community spread. In the end, some opted in and some opted out,one fabulous couple chose to participate and take theirs to go...a good time and an excellent meal was still had.

After Work Walk

Scapa had one of her first longish walks with us after work today. It was Chris’ idea and what a great idea it was.

Scapa’s Dinner

Scapa is very food motivated. It makes her easy to train in some ways. At 12 weeks she already knows to sit for her dinner.

Then the release, and 30 seconds later the food is gone. She likes Chris’ cooking too. Yes, we swore we’d never cook for a dog, but here we are.

Getting Out There

Since my concussion years ago I have organized my work day to ensure I get away from my office and rest my brain mid-way through the day. Yesterday I got out for a short, but lovely, ski at some trails in Riverdale.

That’s me at Canyon City - a location made famous during the Gold Rush.

One Robin

The rest of the robins have gone. One, single, solitary soul remains.

Still alive.

Winter Walks

It’s a lovely thing when the sun comes out. It needs to happen more!

Next Mitts: The Replacements

These are my third edition of this mitten. The first ones have worn out. I’ve darned them three times and they are pretty far gone. So, I spun the last of my Portland breed wool from our 2015 trip to England. I dyed one skein with indigo and knitted these mitts.

It took a couple months to finish them, even though it was the third time I’ve knitted this pattern. It takes a lot of focus to follow the repeats.

And the thumbs are a bitch!

There is probably another way to do the thumbs that I just haven’t figured out.

Puppy Walks

Now that Scapa has had her second Parvo shot we feel more comfortable taking her for walks around the neighborhood. She’s 12 weeks old, and cute as a button!

This is just after work, with the sun setting and winter closing in.

Fun being had!

She’s too fast for my fingers on the camera button!

But, there are still some good ones!

Foxy

I just missed getting a photo of the fox who was spying on us having our weekend morning tea in bed.

The fox was standing RIGHT at there: less than 6 inches from us on the other side of a window pane.

Home Office Update: The Winter Robin

At one point after a major snowstorm here in town we had a high of six robins in our front yard. Then for about 10 days there were three robins. I worried each  morning that I would find Robin frozen dead on the branch. Now we’re down to one Robin. Still alive, still here. They are migratory birds in the Yukon, they aren’t supposed to stay for winter.

More Birds

We love our yard... all the hard work of planning and gardening pays off in cute bird entertainment value..
