Christmas Cake

This years version of my fabulous Christmas cake turned out really well if I do say so myself. It is a tradition I like because it lasts.

Vikram Vij in Whitehorse

On Saturday night Vikram beach was in town hosting a fundraiser meal for the local hospital foundation friends of ours are tuned into social media and got us tickets for the sold-out event of 400. I was having too much fun to use my phone, a good sign. The food was excellent, there could’ve been more of it and the rice could’ve come on time. I think it will be cool if the recipes came with the tickets. Our entire table of eight did agree that if we’d been running the show the show would’ve gone a little smoother. That could’ve been the liquor talking though. Yukon Brewing was there with some of their signature spirits making excellent cocktails. There were rather a lot of very Russian queues.  By Russian queues I mean everyone saw a lineup, and went and stood there without knowing what youd get at the other end, just trusting whatever it was would be something we’d need.

Summer in a Jar

I harvested our mint, calendula, camomile and dried them. Today I blended this lovely tea with some rose buds I’d gotten in Chinatown.
