Beautiful walks

My favourite tree.

We

Mending, mending, mending

I’m not a big fan of mending I do it because I can. Things tend to stay in the mending pile for a long time. I’m very proud of myself this weekend because I have worked through a substantial pile of nothing. Reuniting us with some old long lost favorites.

Everything Easter

This year we have all Easter symbols in our house.

Freezing Easter

We woke up to cold temperatures this morning.

Euro Ski

The day after the buckwheat was similarly glorious. We went for another ski. Christopher unfortunately cracked his ribs a couple weeks back and didn’t do either ski.  Then we stop for coffee in car cross enjoy the view and felt very self satisfied.

Skagway Buckwheat Part 2

Best weather ever!

Spring Fire

Last March was far too cold to even consider enjoying a nice fire on the deck. This March is way nicer.

Pysanky: Ukrainian Easter Eggs

On the weekend I got together with a friend and decorated some Easter eggs using beeswax as a resist. It’s a craft practised in the Ukraine and something I remember being a lot of fun. It is a lot of fun. So much so they were going to do it again this year before Easter.

Unfurled

A first for Whitehorse, a fur show and sale. There were educational exhibits stories quizzes and lots of fur to buy. After we left Christopher asked me why I didn’t buy any, and I turned him and indignation and said why didn’t you tell me it was OK to buy some?!

Spring Forward $%#$@$#%#$#$%

Who still thinks that 'daylight savings' time is actually a good thing? Particularly here in the Yukon? There is no need to 'save daylight' in the summer, and nothing under the short winter sun would help save daylight on those short winter days other than not working during the 6 hours of light. I absolutely hate the loss of 1 hour of sleep every year. What good is there from this monstrous disruption?

Today’s Soup

Something Fishy ...

Wicked Snow

We had an unusually huge dump of snow. Christopher finally let me push him  over in the snow.  After 15 years. Correction, 17 years!

Cross Country Ski Hut to Hut

A local environmental firm sponsors a Hut to Hut ski here on the spectacular cross country ski trails. This is the first year I’ve done it and it was fun. There are three huts and a theme: Harry Potter! There were invisibility cloaks for everyone.
The first stop was at Harvey’s Hut. I’ve posted about the wonderful rebuild of that Hut after to was burnt down by truants.

Next up was the Fireweed Hut, around the corner.

Last was Sarah Steele Hut, up a very long steep hill but with motivational signs advertising mulled wine.

Where we ran into lots of friends.

My arms aren’t long enough to do a good selfie.
