Jam Jar Arrangement

I grabbed some wild flowers from the ditch and put them in a jam jar to brighten up my office. So cheery!

And made me feel good.

Late Summer Evenings

The summer light at this time of year is absolutely glorious.

Scapa enjoyed a bit of fetch before the sun went in.

A quiet resting place in Fort Anne’s redoubt.

Busy Bees In the Garden

It was supposed to be rainy all day today, but it’s cleared up to beautiful blue sky. The bees are making the most of the good weather.

More Gardening

We made it all pretty. Weeded and top dressed.

We got it done before the sun hit the garden and it got too hot. Scapa is demonstrating the heat at 10:45.

Cicada

I’ve never seen one, only heard them. They are HUGE! And very well camouflaged.

More Pickles!

Yup- 8lbs more pickles.

Chris pointed out that we have quite a high pickle bell. And I thought “I can save us some money“.  Hopefully they taste good too.

Gardening

A late summer too dress of compost really perks the flower beds up. Makes them look a bit tidier too.

Paint the Town

We are here for the annual paint the town event. Here’s our artist friend Connie Lowe-Parker painting by the court house.

Pickles!

It’s been a busy weekend food wise. When we were at the market on Saturday, Chris pointed out to me that there was one vendor selling pickling cucumbers. Pickling cucumbers are as scarce as hens teeth this year and he knew that I wanted to try making dill pickles, I ended up with 7 pounds worth. Chris wants me to get more next weekend he says!

There’s 9 jars of quick dolls and a casserole dish with some sour dills.

I hope they all work!

The Confused Sunflower

All the rest of the sunflowers got the message about where the sun is. This one faces the yellow siding on our house. Still pretty, just a little stunned.

Music in the Gardens

A local small concert band did a free concert in the gardens this evening. We dropped by after work. Totally lovely.

Hammock

Sarah finally had time to put up her Hammock under her oak tree.  We think this Hammock was bought with Christopher's Mom in Cancun Mexico many years ago.

Apparently it is VERY relaxing...

Natal Days Annapolis

It’s a weekend of celebration here. There’s some re-enactors camped over by the Fort. They are the 84 foot Regiment. Not sure I got that exactly right, but here’s the pictures

Their regimental colours.

Being drilled in front of their commanding officer. Their costumes were spot on.

Me enjoying the show. With our haul from the market which included some vintage textiles.
