On the Journey - Vancouver to Frankfurt

It was a smooth and uneventful journey, which is not what I expected and prepared for. Isla was a bit anxious to use the facilities, but otherwise, just fine. All that anxiety about the dog's paper work and no one really looked at it! Everyone smiles when they see her, especially when she has her frisbee... The most challenging part of the whole journey was how to get the luggage from the airport to the airport hotel. Believe it or not, the airport authorities expect you to push your loaded luggage cart onto the escalator, hold it there until you get to the top, then push it off. There's no elevator. Christopher was a Rock Star and got the hotel porters to come over and help us out. They obviously do this regularly, and even for them it was not easy. If you travel with an attaché case, everything gets a lot easier. Some how the luggage that looked entirely reasonable in Canada, looks like WAY too much here. We blame the dog.

All that said... We flew Lufthansa first class using our Aeroplan points on the second floor of a Boeing 747-400.  We are sad to say they are phasing this out in favour of more business class seats.  It was an unbelievable experience that I doubt we will ever have again.  Amazing!
