France Travel: Toulouse, City of Night

When we retired to bed at 10:30 or so, there were bars just opening. All through the night we heard people returning from their revels until they were intermingled with the rubbish collectors. This morning I'd set our alarm for 8:30 so we wouldn't miss anything. Everything is still closed, there's nothing to miss.

The People of Toulouse seem to have always been up for a good time...

Our Fantastic Little Rented Flat...

What Sarah would've given to have had this place when she was going to law school!

I must also add that choosing to travel in southern France in summer is a very direct sort of self punishment. Even at night here in Toulouse it doesn't cool down. Even in the rain, it is still uncomfortably warm at 22 degrees Celsius with a humidex much higher. And yet, air conditioning is not common place, neither are fans. I think winter is the time to travel here for those of us who appreciate a cooler climate.

The fountain just outside our flat.  Isla had to have a cooling bath every couple of hours...

Other forms of self -punishment at the cafe just outside our flat...
When we returned to the lovely cool evening temperatures of St. Bertrand... we were told that it had been +43 Degrees Celsius during the day and not much cooler during the night we were in Toulouse!
