France Travel: Music Festival

St. Bertrand de Comminges has held a music festival centred around medieval music for 40 years. Tonight I attended this year's inaugural concert featuring the enormous organ of the St. Bertrand de Comminges cathedral and the voices of 4 men who sang in amazing harmony and counterpoint. It was well worth the price of admission.

Check out the festival website here if you are interested; Comminges Festival. I could have lived without the half hour of speechifying, during which the festival organizer received the medal of valour for French culture or something like that. The organist did some fun stuff that made me smile and she used the big bass hum that you just can't get out of your home sound system. Happy Bastille Day! yes, it is also France's birthday today.
