Gion by Night

Gion is the atmospheric old town part of Kyoto, just across the River from our hotel. I don’t have many photos for two reasons. First there were many signs requesting that you not take photographs. And two, we were really enjoying the atmosphere too much to take pictures. It was delightfully quiet, Misty and just plain lovely.

There were the requisite shrines- which Despite the hour we’re still open for prayer. Something I remember from my childhood travels. Churches now in North America and Europe or invariably locked.

We think this is a vixen with her kit. She was pretty scary looking.

This is one street that didn’t have ‘no photo’ signs. Not as pretty as others. Then we stopped for a drink at the liquor museum. That was a lot of fun. No photos taken again. Then we decided we should probably head home and stumbled upon some delicious street food.

The walk home took us past another beautiful shrine and a part of the river where someone else was out having a late night snack.thats a heron in the picture.
