Morning in the Garden
My favourite time of day is before the sun starts baking the front garden. Looking at all the lovely fall flowers.

The Habitation at Port Royal
One of the nice things about a late start to my workday is there’s time in the mornings to do other things. Yesterday we finally made the time to go over to the habitation in Port Royal and tour through the national historic site. You can see immediately why they chose the location. It has a commanding view over the Annapolis basin.
The interior was organized around a central square with a well, blacksmith, trading post, feasting hall, kitchen, atelier sail loft and accommodations. The buildings themselves were pre-fabricated in a French shipyard before the adventurers set sail.
The front door to the Fort.

The central courtyard.

The kitchen shelves.

And the cooking area.
Atelier.

The banqueting room.

After the Rain
Huge rain last night and early this morning. The thunder rattled the light fixtures but we kept our power.

The Fall Garden
This is the first year for most of our garden. It was last fall that we put in the first part of the ‘driveway’ garden as we call it.
The front porch is on the list for the spring.

Chris’ favourite grass which adds a lightness and grace to the garden - we think.

With the last of the hard scraping in, we plan to finish the other side before winter so we have a garden to look out on through the winter.

Annapolis Royal Graveyard Candlelight Tour
Our neighbour Alan Melanson does a history tour by candlelight in the graveyard beside Fort Ann. Last night was a beautiful night for the tour. We both learned so much about the history of this area. It was absolutely fascinating.

Jam Jar Arrangement
I grabbed some wild flowers from the ditch and put them in a jam jar to brighten up my office. So cheery!
And made me feel good.
