Italian food, our neighbourhood of Trieste

We love Italian food. It is one of the primary reasons we keep coming back to Italy, that and the simple exuberance of the people, and maybe the history a little bit. When we were on sabbatical we found this wonderful apartment in the Quartiere Trieste/Nomentana area of Rome. Close to the centre, but not in the centre. There's a neat little traditional style market at the end of Via Allessandria which now has a name, Mercati d'Autro (I think) and it's been improved with a nice seating area and library since our last visit. This post highlights that market and the haul Christopher brought home in his hands because he refused to let me drag the 'old lady' cart on wheels. He regretted his choice lets just say because it was Easter weekend and we were buying for 3 days....
