Big Tancook
We needed a holiday and I found a place on Big Tancook Island. We usually like islands, so why not? You take a passenger ferry from the government wharf in Chester.
Fun! It leaves right on time, and Chris was a total rock star getting us coffee - he rocked up just in time! Big Tancook through the fog.
Unloading at the wharf. The first house in a while is being built on Big Tancook. That’s the builder getting his lift of drywall in a borrowed truck.
He had a sink and a few other things onboard. Once the ferry pulls away and everyone heads home it is incredibly quiet and peaceful.

NS Garden Install
Over the last week Chris and I have dug over, planned, purchased and planted a long border at the front of our NS house. Exhausting but satisfying. This became the final layout. You can see Chris working at the far end of the border.
Me planting up.

Finally in.

It still needs top dressing with compost for water retention and mild fertilizing, and appearance.

We put in heathers, Japanese anemones, black knight budlea, hydrangea, cranes bill geraniums, a pair of crabapples, thyme, lavender, iris and many other things!

Sarah's First Week in Annapolis
Hurricane Fiona has meant that we were not able to go and tour the Cape Breton highlands. So... we tackled some gardening. Several trips to local garden centres and the generosity of family and friends donating extra plants and we have the making of two lovely 'deer resistant' gardens... 🤞.
The floors in the dining room and parlour were finished and took a couple of days to cure before we could walk on them. Darrell has been working on the North facing windows since we finished tge floors.
