Naramata Bench Wineries

We rented e-bikes and did a great cycle on the KVR, then hit three vineyards for tasting.

Nichol had their mascot cat on display. Max was strutting his stuff and showing off for us.

Then we hit Daydreamer vineyard. Where the sheep came to greet us, no photos! They were baby doll southdown rams, one grey, the other white.

Next we hit the booster to take us back up the precipitous hill, along the KVR and a brief stint on the busy highway to Laughing Stock I did almost get hit by a mini van and broke a nail downshifting - but the tasting experience kinda made up for it.

Tinhorn creek hike

I’d had good times at Tinhorn creek in the past, but never done the hike. I’m so glad to have done it now. Walking up through the vineyard into the sere Cattle grazed landscape beyond was a new experience for me. It was only enhanced when a character from the TV soap Yellowstone came by on an ATV. 😊 I admired his cowboy hat 🤠.

There was a wonderful grandmother Ponderosa pine tree, with claw marks from a bear having climbed it right beside the trail.

And the creek even had water in it. A surprise given how dry it’s been over the last two months.

Naramata Falls

A sweet little walk and scramble near the KVR to see a creek that has carved a tiny gorge in the rocky

Winery Stay

We stayed at a winery last night. The road noise and predator calls at 6 AM. Woke me up in time to see the crew. Start harvesting this fall’s grapes.

Season Ending Downtown Urban Garden

After a season of gardening at the community garden downtown in Whitehorse i’m starting to put the garden to bed. I am very surprised about how dry the soil is despite all of the recent rains and our diligent watering, it is as dry as a popcorn fart.

and the potato’s!

Downtown Urban Garden

We have sunflowers!

Best Days

We have had what for us in Yukon, had been a long autumn. The poplars are changing.

Chadburn Lake Picnic

It was a glorious fall day. The kind that don’t happen very often. We took advantage and had a little walk and a lovely picnic.

Back Alley Berries In Autumn

The back alleys of downtown Whitehorse abound with raspberries. This is the latest I’ve ever enjoyed them.

The summer was dry so the poplars are expressing different colours as they loose their leaves.

Late summer, Whitehorse community Garden

Because of the long hot dry late summer, all the gardens have done well, including our community garden. I visited this morning to water again. It is amazingly thirsty at this time of year having had no rain and with big plants. I’m really looking forward to another enormous cabbage. And it looks like our sunflowers are actually going to get a chance to bloom. I could’ve sworn that I bought dwarf seeds, but apparently not.

Late Summer Whitehorse Lovelies

We have had an astounding spell of hot dry, sunny weather here in Whitehorse. Many of the annuals and perennials have loved it.

That is our four and a half pound savoy cabbage! We grew on our allotment in the downtown community garden
