Today the diggings were completed in the basement along with the plastic liner that forms a vapour barrier. The most interesting part was the brief visit we made downstairs to examine the former Platform for an ancient furnace long extinct and vanished. The lovely fellows who are doing the basement to quite agreeably to the suggestion that that chunk of concrete should probably come out. And from there some adventures begin.
It was a fairly sizeable piece of concrete. It took some talking.
But eventually it was agreed.
Hacking and prying undid the outer layer. The inner layer had some kind of metal reinforcement.
Probably the iron wheel from an old piece of farm equipment. Leaverage was called for.
The result? All gone!
