Scapa's First Brush...
With a porcupine... on a walk up on North Mountain near the wind turbine. Sarah was a star and was able to get the vast majority of quills out by hand. It apparently wasn't as bad as it could have been... none inside the mouth and only a few in the nose.

Pics From Today
Much of the drywall is up in the former pink room... soon to be Sarah's studio. Sarah enjoyed her wood fired hot tub again today... and Christopher started laying out the fencing that will be installed permanently in the spring. Based on our buddy David's advice... Sarah worked on a sample area trying to get the wallpaper and backing removed. it worked well on the top two layers.

Christmas Dinner
We had very special guests for Christmas Dinner... Sarah's Dad Michael and his wonderful lady wife Donna!
On the menu... turkey, bourbon glazed ham, baked potatoes, roasted Celeriac, baked squash.
We had great food and a lovely visit...
Traditions
In accordance with at least part of our boxing day traditions... we had Sarah's famous sourdough pancakes with her homemade rosehip syrup, local maple syrup and local bacon fron the Lequille General Store.
And now we are sitting down to watch the Hobbit.
Christmas Day in Annapolis Royal
Here are a few more pics from our busy day... getting the hot tub ready for our first official soak, and prepping and cooking Xmas dinner for family.

Christmas Morning
Merry Christmas to all our family and friends that follow our antics as recorded in this, our blog.
Here is our view this AM out our bedroom window in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. We are drinking our Murchie's Xmas tea and appreciating our lives, our good health, friends and family.

Hot Tub Chimney
We have a chimney fitted and installed on the hot tub! Many thanks to Darrell Hudson for the recommendation and Al Simms of Simms Sheet Metal who prioritized getting this done for us for Christmas.
The chimney all made it here from the factory... but the pieces would not fit together. Hopefully Backcountry Recreation from BC will make it right for this extra expense and grief we had to go through.
Now... if the firewood shows up and the weather warms enough to get water in there...
We'll be soaking our bones over the holidays!
Woo Hoo!

Pink Room Saga Continues
No matter what happens... work has to be redone because you can't think of everything. The trades and the general contractor each get focused on priority tasks. The light at the top of the stairs was on the list but was farther down than the eminently dangerous knob and tube wiring that was found remaining all through the first floor... and is now(as of yesterday) all removed or disabled! This meant that when the outside walls of the pink room were open and available to run wires easier... we were all focussed elsewhere.
So... today... we realized some of Darrell's great insulation work had to be undone... in order to have switches at the top and bottom of the stairs.
The electricians are here again today again eliminating two pull cord lights and putting them on switches. Many thanks to Charles Stewart Electrical for fitting our work in and making our house electrically safe.
