Catching up - The Teacup Cabinet

Behind and beside the dining room chimney facing into the weird room... was a cabinet for Sarah's teacups. When Darrel fully uncovered the chimney, we realized that at least some of our hopes had been realized instead of dashed. The original work to create the chimneys was quality work... only the renos that were done to put in the forced air in the 1980's were the problem. We have decided to expose as much of the beautiful brickwork as possible to the dining room. In order to do this... one of the heat ducts needs to be moved back. The domino effect meant that Sarah's teacups cabinet had to be removed. And boy was it never meant to be moved and built beautifully. Each piece of trim had tens of square nails in them. The cabinet itself was made from 4 solid pieces of wood. The other find of opening up around the fireplace was the solving of the mystery of the bump on the wall in the weird room behind the chimney. It turns out that when they did the sketchy chimney reno... the crappy Mason added a'chimney thimble'. The thimble had fallen off the chimney side and pushed out the wall. Mystery solved.
