Castellemare del Golfo

Our home for the next month + is near Castellemare del Golfo, a smallish seaside town known for its Norman castle (hence Castellemare). We adventured around for fresh food, wine, post cards, stamps and the necessary long stay permit for Christopher. We had amazing success, although we've not yet got Christopher's long stay permit. I got stamps! Long time readers will know how hard I've worked to get stamps on other visits to Italy. Luckily Leo was in line at the post office behind us and helped translate my desire for stamps for my post cards into Italian. I gather foreign postage is uncommon here because each post card required 3 stamps after being weighed.

The tourist information at the Norman castle was excellent - she directed us to the local wine store which sells 2 litre bottles of EVO for 16 E and 2L bottles of local white or red wine for 3.50E. Nice stuff! We always try the cheapest of the wines just to see, and we are often very pleasantly surprised.

The butcher took us to his favourite wine shop and recommended some of the local Nero D'avola which we have yet to try.

We like it here!
