Kyoto Handcraft Craft Centre
It was teeming with rain today, so after soaking my feet in too many puddles I was thrilled to see a big sign on the side of a building pronouncing it to be the Kyoto Handcraft Centre. I had read in our Lonely Planet guidebook that it has lots of arts and crafts for sale. In addition they do short classes. We did the wood block printing class. I had always wondered how the layers of colour were added to the prints. Now I know. There is a separate carved block for each colour.

And yes, the shopping was amazing.
