Lars Trail Whoops

I Was out for a cross country ski on my lunch hour yesterday. It was beautiful, sunny, not too cold, fresh snow. I joined biathlon so I could use their beautiful trails on grey mountain.
That’s the range behind me. One of the trails I particularly enjoy is called Megadeth.

I had so much fun doing that, and with some time left before My lunch hour was over, I decided to do Lats trail.

You know how they say pride comes before the fall…

Quite literally in this case. I crashed quite spectacularly and dislocated my shoulder.

I’ll survive, but probably won’t ski again this season.  I’m particularly proud of the fact that I self evacuated. In other words I skied the 5 km back to the parking lot where happily Christopher was picking me up. This is in contrast to the number of folks who got brought in by ambulance on stretchers from the downhill ski hill While I was waiting an emergency to be seen. If you’re going to cross country ski you got to be tough.

Spring Decorating

One of the unexpected results working from home during the pandemic has been my desire to decorate seasonally. A number of years ago when we were travelling in Germany during the Easter season one of the things that tickled my fancy were the Easter egg trees. This year I’ve embarked on the long slow process of making enough coloured eggs to decorate my own tree.  Looking online for images of German Easter egg trees my eye was caught by some lovely vintage wooden German eggs on Etsy. They arrived today and I am completely charmed. The little kit included a small bunny who is now nestled into one of my seasonal floral pieces in the bathroom.

I get a little bubble of joy every time I look at it.

Little Birds

These chirpy, cheerful sparrows always lift my heart. Some kind soul puts out bird seed for them over the winter. They have also adapted to our cold weather by using warm engines. When a vehicle pulls up the little birds go up into the engine to stay warm.

Yep. Cute as cute can be!

Scapa really enjoyed watching them too.
