Side Benefits of Yukon's Terrible Summer Weather

 With climate change... the Yukon gets more wind all year and rain, rain and more rain during our summers.

The one bonus (especially for Sarah)... is the huge amount and variety of mushrooms.

Chris has The photos of these mushrooms when we gathered them. They are the largest puffballs I have ever seen. I believe they are described as western giant puffballs.

That is Llewelyn Glacier in the far distance. 

Back to town.

That was the birthday evening, I was having to get a time to take pictures, it’s possible Christopher may have some he’ll add later.

The glacier is definitely retreating. You can easily see the scar from its previous level. As we motored away more of the glacier became visible. 


And the bear claws sharpened on the tree beside the trail:

And on the shore a lovely display of wild flowers. 

Atlin Houseboat Day 2

An amazing day. 

There were mountain goats all over, including on Cathedral mountain which Chris is glassing in this pic. I don’t have photos of the nursery groups that we saw, with pairs of kids gamboling over the mountain side. 

We headed into the second narrows passage between Theresa Island and the shore. 

This is looking down Willison Inlet where we started our morning. 

Not long after I took this pic our friends launched their kayaks for a lovely paddle.
