Yukon Cranberries

Here’s our patch - really productive.

Good times!

Oiled the deck

The back deck on the cabin outback needed to be treated again this year. Honestly we’ve been waiting for a 24 hour clear spell, and this is the first break we’ve had.

We got it done, then I looked at the sky.

You cannot trust the weatherman!

Saturday Dinner

I have been trying to use what I have on hand and in the garden. Fridge pickings were slim, a couple manly tomatoes was all - but there was a piece of halibut in the freezer, vegetables in the garden and spice in the drawers.

Tada! Fish curry. Yum!

Raspberry Liqueur

Each year I hope for enough raspberries to make liqueur. This is a good year!

Indigo Update

The last dip is supposed to oxidize for 24 hours so it wasn’t u TIL today that I rinsed the indigo out.

There is still some indigo in there judging by my hands.

Indigo Dye Day

Dyeing is a seasonal activity for me. It is perfect to use the wood sheds while they are empty for multi day dye projects. I decided I wanted to do some indigo - blue is one of my favourite colours.

I love how it transforms from green to blue as it oxidizes.

Canned Peaches

It was a busy weekend. I canned a half a bushel of lovely peaches. Martha Stewart has a recipe for burning vanilla poached peaches that is just delicious.

I’ve made a whole bushel of canned peaches this year because they were so good last winter.

Side Benefits of Yukon's Terrible Summer Weather

With climate change... the Yukon gets more wind all year and rain, rain and more rain during our summers.

The one bonus (especially for Sarah)... is the huge amount and variety of mushrooms.

Delicious Mushrooms

Chris has The photos of these mushrooms when we gathered them. They are the largest puffballs I have ever seen. I believe they are described as western giant puffballs.

Last Day on Atlin Lake

That is Llewelyn Glacier in the far distance.

Back to town.

Atlin Houseboats Caribou Camp

It was very peaceful.

Atlin Houseboats Sloco Island

That was the birthday evening, I was having to get a time to take pictures, it’s possible Christopher may have some he’ll add later.

Llewelyn Glacier

The glacier is definitely retreating. You can easily see the scar from its previous level. As we motored away more of the glacier became visible.

And the bear claws sharpened on the tree beside the trail:

And on the shore a lovely display of wild flowers.

Atlin Houseboat Day 2

An amazing day.

There were mountain goats all over, including on Cathedral mountain which Chris is glassing in this pic. I don’t have photos of the nursery groups that we saw, with pairs of kids gamboling over the mountain side.

We headed into the second narrows passage between Theresa Island and the shore.

This is looking down Willison Inlet where we started our morning.

Not long after I took this pic our friends launched their kayaks for a lovely paddle.

Waterfalls abound.

Landing a Llewelyn Glacier.
