Poppies

As I was leaving for work this morning I thought the poppies looked fantastic. I don’t think the photo does them justice. These are the annual poppies with the seed heads of our perennial poppies visible as well.

Yukon Brewing

A quick stop for cold beer.

Northern Fibre Guild Natural Dye Day

My Yukon guild hosted a dye day at a member’s house. We had fun despite the heat. The indigo was hands down a fan favourite.
Here’s some of the results.

Jean dyed some old sheets for a rag rug she is designing. It will have the colours of the forest floor.

She extracted cookout from spruce cones for one of those. It smelled fantastic.

Here’s a look at the broad collection of colours.

Most of the yarn was wool. The fabrics are cottons.

Hey! Presto! Curtains

Yea towels with a rod and rings assembled from a variety of stores in town. It was a pleasure to shop in the air conditioning. It is so hot here right now.

Icelandic Handspun

I’m on a Tour de Fleece Team and have been challenging myself to spin what I’ve got. I got this Icelandic fleece all spun.

It came out lovely.

So much so that I think I will leave it alone rather than try and dye it. It is soft and squishy and has a halo and a sheen to it.

Tea Cups from the Office

I’m packing up my office and had to find an interim spot for some of my tea cups. I think it looks nice.
