Another Delayed Air Canada Flight...

As always... we love staying the night in the Vancouver Airport Fairmont Hotel.   It is a lovely less stress way to begin a journey.

This is not an illusion... there is snow in Vancouver

This flight... so far is 1.5 hrs late waiting for driving in Vancouver... will we make it?

YVR Maple Leaf Lounge International

Lovely lounge - and checkout the snow! Yep. Snow in Vancouver. I hope our flight gets off the ground. Our afternoon flight out of Whitehorse turned into an evening flight when the deicing fluid didn’t work the first time because it was so cold. The pilot had a little rethink and did all the preflight checks, then deuces and we got off the ground at around 7pm. For a 4:20 pm flight. One of the cabin crew told me we were within 30 seconds of not taking off the second time because ice was starting to form on the wings again.

Japan... here we come?

In classic Air Canada fashion the flight out of -40 Celsius Whitehorse is already delayed 1.5hrs.  The AC staff claim it was delayed by weather... of course.  Other flight tracking sites say the plane arrived in Vancouver over an hour late.   I can see the ice fog building along the river between our two big and still partly open lakes.  Will the AC flight be able to land here?  We'll see.  Air Canada does not have the best record making it into and out of Whitehorse.

Sarah is currently meditating on the subject...

The question is... do I want the plane to arrive so we can make it to Japan?  Not sure honestly.

Frost Gardens

When we opened the curtains this morning our triple glazed window spotted a frost forest.

Yes it was -42 this morning.

The End of Christmas

Before putting away all the finery, one more go with the antlers. That isn’t physical pain just humiliation on the dogs face!

New Years Eve

I got it into my head to go for a ski this New Year’s Eve and I’m so glad I did! The conditions were fantastic and the skiing was effortless. The stars were amazing and the sliver of moon was just enough to keep us in the tracks. It was a bit of a crazy trust exercise at times just trusting the beautifully set tracks. We stopped at one of the warming it’s and lit a fire had some tea and hot cheese.

The. We got into the car just in time to see the fireworks.

Yes, from a parking lot! Still good.
