Covid 19 Masks

It has taking quite some time but I have finally made a few masks as recommended by Dr. Teresa Tam Canada’s chief medical officer of health.  I must say there are an incredible number of patterns out there. A huge part of my inertia was trying to decide which one or ones I should try. In the end I went for this simple duckbill style that I adjusted for my seemingly enormous face and nose. I needed the extra large size with added fabric. Happily the same size also fits Christopher.

I made my own modification to be able to insert a pipe cleaner nose piece that keeps the mask quite firmly attached to my face you can see the mask dive in and out of my nose as I breathe.

So far, in Whitehorse, very few people are wearing masks. I just wanna be prepared.

More Weaving

Once I sorted out how to put on a warp it was pretty inspiring. Here’s my second project. The yarn is my hand spun Shetland wool that I got when I was in the Shetlands for Wool Week two years ago. I spun it for knitting, but then decided I’d like to have a woven scarf. So far I think it is going well. I’ll really know when I get it off the loom and wash it. Fingers crossed.

Our Kitchen’s Guardian Dragon 🐉

Both Chris and I read a lot of fantasy stories as kids and continue to as adults. Chris has had this lovely dragon longer than me. Today she became vegetarian!

And yes, we too eat a lot of salad! The live lettuce last longer so we only have to shop once a week. Although soon we will get greens from our garden.

Isla

We are very sorry to say our wonderful little girl Isla just died suddenly today.  We are utterly devastated.
Our friends and family have been so kind - sharing our loss. Isla was loved by many. She was a fantastic dog.

This spring the river was late breaking up. This was her first swim this year. Just last week. Also her last swim.

She was a great ski companion.
A great friend on a walk.

And excellent at sleeping in with us.

We miss her terribly.
