Taku River Sockeye
Yum! We got some Taku River sockeye again this year. I had to spend an evening cutting it and preparing it for the freezer not a bad investment.

Honey Do List - Check!
How long had that hose laid on the lawn? About 15 years. Hook to hang it on installed!
Where do the ladders live? On the woodshed. Check!
Let’s relax and have a fire. Check!

Yukon River Paddle
Over the weekend we did a paddle from Marsh Lake to Whitehorse in the Yukon River. It had been a least a year since the canoe got out on the water and more than a decade since we’d done this trip. The first four hours was fantastic. After that I was wishing we were staying out over night! I don’t remember it taking so long or being so hard last time.
Fall is here
Conventional Yukon wisdom has it but once the fire weed has stopped blooming, and certainly once it starts to change colour autumn has arrived.

Haines Friends of Recyling
I learned this year that the Haines Friends of Recycling take all the food waste from the State fair and turn it into compost. The food vendors at the fair use compostable everything and it all goes to Haines gardeners to turn into compost.
The geranium was grown in compost made from last years waste. The tub in the back with holes in it is from an old washer the Friends took apart. Pretty amazing for such a small town.

Canning Peaches
I’ve never understood why it is called canning when you use jars, but that is what I did with 20 lbs of peaches over the last three days. When I started out I struggled with getting their skins off. They just weren’t ripe enough. Once they ripened a bit those skins slid right off.

Cocktails on the SS Klondike
As part of the local culinary festival, one of the events is a cocktails and canapes on the SS Klondike. We and a couple friends got a pair of the limited entry tickets. What a fantastic evening. Our friend Eric who is a born and raised Whitehoosian had never been on the boat! He's a history buff too. We had our own collection of tour guides we could ask any question we wanted about the boat. I learned so much just tagging along and listening to the discussion Eric had with Don.
Labrador in the Garden
It has been just lovely this week, fantastic weather, good times with friends. The fire ban is finally over, so we enjoyed a fire in the garden.

Being Grownups - Pros and Cons
One of the major pros of being a grownup is you can have desert first, or only desert for dinner if you want. Cons are things like having to drain your washer when it breaks down. That was our Sunday afternoon. YUCK! There are no photos.....
